About This Show

Cobu 2007 is a distinctive group of eight edgy young women taking traditional Japanese Taiko Drums to the next level integrating the rhythmic sounds from African Djembe drums, wooden percussion instruments along with a Shamisen (Japanese banjo).

Dance like Drumming, Drum like Dancing is the direct translation to "Cobu." So where does the dance fit in? Each of the individuals come from strong dance backgrounds, offering an explosive fusion of Nic hibu (the dance of the Geishas), tap and hip hop culture. Cobu extends a cultural flair to the world of rhythm and dance that should be seen by all.
