About This Show

The British/Irish Comedy Invasion features a major line up of established and rising stars, some of whom American audiences know, and some of whom are largely unknown outside the UK. Each performer plays approximately one week. Participating comedians include Omid Djalili, The Hollow Men, Boothby Graffoe, and Dylan Moran. Importing this comedy talent is clearly big business.

Omid Djazlili (March 10-20) is best known in the U.S. for his role as the manager of the hotel on Whoopi Goldberg’s new hit sitcom. He is the recipient of an Emma and a Time Out Award for stand up comedy in the UK, as well as a Perrier nomination.

The Hollow Men (March 23-27) are David Armand, Rupert Russell, Sam Spedding and Nick Tanner, four Cambridge grads specializing in sketch, character and visual comedy. They have performed at both Edinburgh and Aspen (winning the Jury Award there), as well as in New York and LA and have been described as “a mixture of Monty Python and Kids in the Hall.” They were one of Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch.”

Boothby Graffoe (March 30-April 3) is a comedian, singer/songwriter and playwright. His surreal, sharp, often improvised humor in original comic songs has won him a legion of fans around the world. He won a 2002 Time Out Comedy Award and was a Perrier Award nominee.

Dylan Moran (April 6-10) was the youngest comedian ever to win the Perrier Award at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1996. Americans got a taste of his uniquely dry sense of humor when Comedy Central ran his hit Channel 4 show “Black Books.” The hit show won both BAFTA and Bronze Rose of Montreux Awards for Best Sitcom in 2001.
