Brainpeople centers on a lavish feast. Once a year, Mayannha invites two strangers to dinner and serves them tiger meat. This year she has invited Sonja and Rosemary. Sonja has just ended an affair with an international news anchor who visits her through her television set and Rosemary has responded to a broken world by dividing herself into 12 distinct personalities. As they dine on viscera and rum, the three women travel into dark and murky places where ghosts are real and the brainpeople find their voices.
