About This Show

Beneath The Banyan Tree is an original full-length play created from the rich traditional folktales of India. Taking characters and stories from more than a half dozen tales originating from different regions of India, award-winning playwright Randall David Cook has woven them together into a magical, suspenseful drama. The morals and lessons of the tales come out in pieces, but in wrapping them together larger themes emerge. The long history of these tales proves their power and endurance. Yet in the western world, these stories, unlike those of Greek mythology, are largely unknown. Until now, that is.
