About This Show

From August 1 through September 1, 2001, Chashama’s storefront window at 135 W 42 hosts scripted performances produced by the Publicity Tree Corporation. Dance, music and theatre will play in rotation to sidewalk audiences. The space, 4′ deep x 20′ wide, is elevated several feet above the street. Sound is audible through outdoor speakers. The challenge: captivate passerby; draw them into the performance to stop and dream. Included: “Eyes of the Panther,” a puppetry piece created by Mac Wellman and Kyle Chepulis; “$$$,” a work-in-progress by the Wooster Group’s Richard Kimmel which explores the exploitation of sexuality and consumer culture; and modern dance choreographed by recent NYU Tisch Dance graduates. All performances are FREE.
