New York City
Set amid the tumultuous climate of modern day politics, religion, and family values in Ireland, Ariel, by Marina Carr, is a re-imagining of the ancient Greek myth of Elektra. Over the course of a decade, Elaine, the youngest Fitzgerald daughter, attempts to live out her “fierce destiny” as her father Fermoy, the patriarch of the family, embarks on a journey to the heights of political power and on to the depths of destruction, fueled by the belief that he is in direct contact with God.
