About the Show

The Opole Puppet Theatre of Poland presents And I Have Uncurtained the Night, based on “Mother” by Hans Christian Andersen, and directed by Krystian Kobylka. The story is about crossing the border between life and death, between reality and spiritual vision. The hero of this story is Mother whose child was taken by the Death. Death appears in different figures whom Mother must make sacrifices to. The child is the personification of the quest for Fate: it is a dual destiny – a blessing for the world and a curse to the world. This visual theater work crosses the barrier of spoken language with its use of pictures, fine art forms, music, acting and puppetry.
