Violet
$60.00
Playwrights Horizons continues its series of concert presentations of its classic shows to open its new home with Violet (1997.) A musical drama set in the rural South of 1964, the show tells the coming-of-age story of a teenage girl, scarred for life in a childhood accident, who sets off to be healed by a TV preacher. The score, with music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics by Brian Crawley, is distinctly American, combining rhythm and blues, country and gospel. The concert features original cast members Stephen Lee Anderson, Michael McElroy, Cass Morgan, Roz Ryan, Michael Parks, and Lauren Ward.
Thursday, January 16 is a benefit performance. All tickets are $150.
