This play with music is a comical and poignant tale of two women from very different worlds who meet at a crossroads in their lives and forge a friendship that takes them to places they never dreamed they’d travel. Kara Angelo, a successful local tv talk show host has always been the good girl and done the “right thing” in life. Hannah Cohen, a talented blues singer, can never quite find her way to the big time and makes ends meet by catering.
These two women from seemingly opposite backgrounds meet quite by chance and discover similarities in their differences while teaching each other lessons of a lifetime.
This theatrical piece explores perceptions about body image, the media, familial expectations, sexual dalliances and the amazing adventure of friendship. It’s about thinking outside of the box, no matter what box you happen to be in. Conceived, written, performed and produced by Amy Coleman and Valerie Smaldone, the show mirrors the unusual way they met and built the bond of friendship. The show plays every Tuesday evening in the beautiful Garden Room at 125 Mulberry Street.
