The internationally acclaimed Nrityagram Dance Ensemble from Southern India come to the Joyce theater, transporting viewers to enchanted worlds of magic and spirituality with the sensuous flow of Odissi, the oldest of India’s classical dance forms.
Originally a sacred ritual, Odissi is marked by lyricism and curved body lines that bring alive the ancient sculptures of India. Choreographed by Artistic Director Surupa Sen, the performance features renowned soloists Surupa Sen and Bijayini Satpathy, with live music composed by Pandit Raghunath Panigrahi.
