About This Show

Classic Stage Company’s 2006-2007 season begins with Michael Cumpsty, one of America’s leading Shakespearean interpreters, fresh from his Obie Award-winning performance as Hamlet, tackling Richard II. CSC also presents Marlowe’s Edward II in its popular Open Rehearsal Series, featuring the cast of Richard II doubling the roles.

The New Year brings Tony Award-winning playwright Yasmina Reza’s (Art) latest and much anticipated new work, A Spanish Play, in a new translation by celebrated American playwright David Ives, and directed by CSC veteran John Turturro.

The season finishes with a collaboration with the celebrated Aquila Theatre Company, as they return to their critically acclaimed retelling of Homer’s The Iliad. And finally, no season could be complete without a behind-the-scenes look at the process of rehearsing a Shakespearean play through CSC’s sold out Open Rehearsal Series, which focuses this year on The Tempest.
