The prestigious Japanese troupe Seinenza Theatre Company presents the U.S. premiere of its internationally acclaimed production Boonah, Come Down. The play is a philosophical Buddhist fable adapted by Tsutomu Mizukami from his 1972 book Boonah the Tree-Climbing Frog. By focusing on the hopes and dreams of a tree frog, Mizukami attempts to help his country remember its own spiritual training and values. By presenting its characters — frogs, rats, birds, snakes, and all the animals who inhabit the universe created in a former temple grounds — in realistic but brightly colored masks and real people clothes, the production makes its point that people should all help each other regardless of their place in the food chain in a dellightful way.
The production is presented in Japanese with simultaneous translation.
