As You Like It (Musical Adaptation)

The Public Theater kicks off its 2017-18 season with a free Public Works musical reworking of As You Like It, adapted by director Laurie Woolery and composer-lyricist Shaina Taub. Two hundred community members and professional actors perform together in this immersive dreamlike tale of faithful friends, feuding families, and lovers in disguise. Forced from their homes, Orlando, Duke Senior, his daughter Rosalind, and his niece Celia escape to the Forest of Arden, a fantastical place of transformation, where all are welcomed and embraced. Lost amid the trees, the refugees find community and acceptance under the stars.
