About This Show

Featuring highlights from the definitive Jungr repertoire of Brel, Dylan, Ray Davies and Richard Thompson, No Regrets. The Remarkable Barb Jungr — with Charlie Giordano on piano — has songs from each of her five Linn Records recordings. Many of these have been performed live in New York, while a few have yet to be staged here. Among the Jungr touchstones are Ne me quitte pas and Marieke by Brel, Eric Bibb’s Heading Home, Dylan’s I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight and If Not for You, and Thompson’s The Great Valerio and Heartbreak Hotel.

Jungr has been called “one of the best interpreters of Jacques Brel and Bob Dylan anywhere” by the Village Voice’s David Finkle. Stephen Holden of The Times has written, “the singer is an amalgam of stylistic crosscurrents, from folk to jazz to French chansons, which she has scrupulously melded into a forceful personal voice.” David Benedict claimed in London’s The Observer, “her instrument is shockingly expressive, with an astonishing palette of colours.”
