New York City
New York City Center honors Douglas S. Cramer with the 2008 Fiorello H. LaGuardia Award for distinguished service to New York City and to New York City Center. The LaGuardia Award is presented to Mr. Cramer by Patti LuPone.
As a Board member for the past eight years, New York City Center applauds Doug’s unwavering devotion to City Center and its programs. Doug has provided key Encores! funding for the preservation and recreation of musical scores from some of America’s legendary musical theater composers. As a dance fan whose early ballet memories were of New York City Ballet at City Center, Doug also made the first leadership gift for City Center’s inaugural season of Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company, and he created the Fall for Dance Festival Travel Fund, allowing Festival producers to travel the world in search of new, untapped talent. A seasoned television producer and one of the country’s leading collectors of contemporary art, we celebrate Doug’s significant contributions to the worlds of theater, dance, opera and the visual arts.
