About This Show

The Guggenheim Museum’s “Works & Process” series features a special event in association with the Playwrights Horizons’ production of My Life with Albertine.

See excerpts and discussion, prior to the world premiere, of this new musical with Book & Lyrics by Richard Nelson (Franny’s Way, James Joyce’s The Dead), Music & Lyrics by Ricky Ian Gordon (Dream True). The musical is based on the ‘Albertine’ sections of Marcel Proust’s Remembrance of Things Past, which will be directed by Mr. Nelson.

The evocative and harmonically lush new musical tells the complicated and obsessive relationship between Marcel, a young man of Society in turn-of-the-century Paris, and the fiery, middle-class girl who became his lover, tormentor and muse.

Mr. Nelson and Mr. Gordon will discuss the evolution of the work, and cast members from the production will present selections of the songs and dialogue, giving the audience a “taste” of this world premiere musical which opens Playwrights Horizons’ brand new building on 42nd Street in late February 2003.
