The Center for Remembering & Sharing kicks off its music series in 2012 with Music Show & Tell #11: Ixos, a concert organized by clarinetist and multimedia artist Krista Martynes. The performance will incorporate movement direction by choreographer Kristin Hatleberg, sound art by Adam Basanta and dance by Ms. Hatleberg and Janet Aisawa. Bounding the rigor of the configuration of compositions and improvisations in performance, Ixos is a cyclical production including the improv-generated compositions of Giacinto Scelsi. Enveloping his works, the artists include sound and movement improvisation including intensification of simple timbres and rhythmic exchanges.
Music Show & Tell is a curated live music series that provides a chamber music setting for the performance and discussion of mostly acoustic music, primarily of international origin. The series includes world music, early music, classical and jazz, contemporary and multi-disciplinary collaborations with video or dance artists.
