About This Show

Award-winning singer/comedian/host Jim Caruso brings his act out of the mothballs and into Birdland, with Johnny Rodgers on piano and vocals. The show features songs by Johnny Mercer, Weird Al Yankovich, John Wallowitch, Fred Ebb, Carol Hall, Dave Frishberg, and also includes an homage to Jim’s personal hero, Dick Van Dyke.

There will be special surprise guests including The Pirate Queen herself, Stephanie J. Block, plus shocking stories intertwined with Mr. Caruso’s sharp witted and buoyant banter.

In addition to producing the highly successful Broadway at Birdland series, for the past 5 years Jim has hosted Cast Party, the extreme open mic night every Monday at Birdland. As a singer, Jim is currently touring the planet with Liza Minnelli, celebrating the music of Kay Thompson and the Williams Brothers. He has won four MAC Awards and two Back Stage Magazine Bistro Awards for his sold-out runs at The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, The Russian Tea Room, Carnegie Hall, and Arci’s Place. He has appeared at Carnegie Hall and in clubs throughout the U.S. and in London as well as hosted Broadway On Broadway 2000 in Times Square; hosted the 2000 MAC Awards, and co-hosted the 2003, 2004 and 2005 Drama Desk Awards webcasts. Caruso was the founding member of the jazz vocal and comedy trio Wiseguys, appearing with Liza Minnelli in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, the United Nations and Central Park, and with Rosemary Clooney at Carnegie Hall. His popular debut CD is Caruso Live and In Person (LML Music).
