About the Show
Celebrate Juneteenth with a special screening of Style Wars, a New York City classic and one of the most influential documentaries ever made about graffiti and hip hop culture.
Widely considered the definitive film on the early graffiti movement, Style Wars follows Black and Latino pioneers of hip hop, breakdancing, and subway art as they transformed New York City through creativity, self expression, and artistic resistance. Capturing a generation of young artists claiming visibility and power in a city that often overlooked them, the film remains a powerful portrait of culture, community, and innovation.
Following each screening, guests are invited to participate in our interactive community response wall. Leave a message for your fellow New Yorkers, share your reflections on the film, or try your hand at creating your own artwork. Stencils, markers, and art supplies will be available throughout the day.
