The winning combination of food and music will be celebrated when Downtown Opera & Chambers Players performs a program entitled If Music be the Love of Food. The program features Jeffrey Lependorf’s chamber opera “The Art of Eating,” words by Joseph Goodrich, inspired by the life and writings of food writer MFK Fisher, and is completed by:
“Trois Morceaux en Forme de Poire” by Erik Satie
“Coffee Cantata Aria” by J.S. Bach
“La Bonne Cuisine” by Leonard Bernstein
“If Music be the Food of Love” by Henry Purcell
and the poems “Dinner” and “Food for Thought” by Ilsa Gilbert.
