About This Show

15-year-old Jane Jiménez, the daughter of a Jewish mother and Mexican father, is about to have her quinceañera. As the celebration of her “transition into womanhood” approaches, Jane is uneasy; she feels stuck in the repetitive waltz she’s been taught. She doesn’t feel like a woman. In fact, she knows she’s not female at all. Meanwhile, her mother, Lisa, is trapped in the past but can’t find anyone to live in it with her. Her father, Reynaldo, is about to break under the weight of the secrets he’s been hiding. Her girlfriend, Dawn, would run away from the trailer park in a heartbeat—if she didn’t have to play parent to her alcoholic mother. All four find themselves stepping off-beat, attempting to figure out the proper choreography.
