Governor Mitch Daniels

As Governor of Indiana, Daniels has been called "the most presidential man in America.", having brought more change to his state in a few years than most see in decades.

He turned a $700 million deficit into a billion-dollar surplus, balancing Indiana’s budget during the recession and converting the state’s once unattractive business climate into one of the strongest for private sector job growth.

Daniels will discuss with The Economist’s Matthew Bishop the overarching philosophy in his book Keeping the Republic: Saving America by Trusting Americans–his belief that Americans, properly informed of the facts, are best equipped to make the decisions governing their own lives, and how this philosophy will pull America together to make necessary changes.
