Born in London, England, Fima Ephron moved to New York at age three. After starting playing bass at age thirteen, Fima attended New York city’s famed music and art high school and was playing professionally by age fourteen. He has gone on to perform and record with a cross section of some of the greatest talent in the music industry: Walter Becker, David Torn, Gil Scott Heron, Natalie Merchant, Meshell N'Degeocello, Screaming Headless Torsos, Kurt Rosenwinkle, Ben Monder, Chris Potter, Wayne Krantz, Don Byron, David Sancious, Adina Menzel, Alana Davis, Morley, Steve Bernstein And Millennial Territory Orchestra, Groove Collective, Alex Sipiagin, Hasidic New Wave, David Fiuczynski/John Medeski's 'Lunar Crush', Yeoffi, Jeb Loi Nichols, Franklyn Kiermyer, Jaki Byard and the Apollo Stompers, Rise Robots Rise, John Zorn, Brad Shepik and the commuters, Frank London, Nate Smith and Kinfolk, Adam Rogers Dice, to name a few.
 
Fima has three acclaimed releases of his own: “Soulmachine” on the Tzadik label and his self released “Quiet City”, as well as his most recent release “songs from the tree” on the Ropeadope label. He also co-led the acclaimed group “Lost Tribe” and currently leads his own quartet which is performing in and around the NYC area. In addition to writing and producing music for his own groups and various side projects Fima has contributed music to a few independent films and some national television shows.
