Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings explores the current state of the international string band, drawing inspiration from Scandinavia, Africa, Brazil, the Appalachian Mountains and beyond, and incorporating jazz, American traditional, world music and classical influences.
Led by violin legend Darol Anger, the ensemble of 2 violins, cello and guitar performs richly orchestrated arrangements of original compositions and music from around the world.
Exceptional among modern fiddlers in his versatility and depth, Anger has helped drive the evolution of the string band via numerous ground-breaking groups such as the Turtle Island String Quartet, Montreux Band, Newgrange, and The David Grisman Quintet.
