About This Show

Daphne Rubin-Vega returns to Joe’s Pub to rock out her melodic, driving and sexy tunes, playing music from her forthcoming CD. Her long awaited album, Redemption Songs, is a vibrant and sophisticated collection of pop, reggae-tinged rock and Latin folk songs that are soulful, passionate and from her heart.

A luminary on the Broadway stage, Daphne Rubin-Vega recently played Fantine in the Broadway revival of Les Miserables and is featured in Jack Goes Boating at the Public Theater. She first lit up Broadway with her debut as Mimi in the original cast of Rent, for which she won the Theater World Award and was nominated for the Tony and Drama Desk awards as best actress in a musical. She has continued on in such diverse productions as The Rocky Horror Show, Fucking A (at The Public Theater), Anna in the Tropics (for which she received another Tony nomination), and most recently took on the greatest role of all: motherhood.

A self-described “club kid,” Rubin-Vega’s career got an early start when she began singing with a girl group called Pajama Party, and then went on to record her own underground club music on Maxi records. Now a new mami, Daphne and her band deliver an exciting, eclectic mix of music as diverse as the diva herself.
