About This Show

Laura Ward/Octavia Cup Dance Theatre and Eidolon Ballet will be performing at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center on June 13 and 15, 2013. The show includes young dancers from Long Island City School of Ballet.

The evening show, June 13th and 15th at 8pm, “Dances from the Turn of the Century,” revisits Octavia Cup’s best known works en pointe. The show features the mysterious environmental hit “Warp Lake,” inspired by the film Silent Running, and the farcical “White,” from the acclaimed show “Enredaderas,” a satirical poke at the values of white picket fence America. Eidolon ballet will perform “Boxes of Sonifericity.”

Laura Ward/Octavia Cup Dance Theatre was founded in 1998 and has been making slightly twisted expressionistic dance theatre en pointe ever since. Eidolon Ballet (www.eidolonballet.org), led by Artistic Director Melanie Cortier, is a chamber-sized contemporary ballet company created in 1999 with a reputation for developing accessible, unorthodox, and fun-loving forms of dance.
