In 1963 Rydell portrayed Hugo Peabody in the movie version of Bye Bye Birdie with Ann Margret and Dick Van Dyke securing his "teen idol" status. Rydell had 19 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart including Wild One, Volare, Swingin' School, Kissin' Time, Sway, I've Got Bonnie, The Cha-Cha-Cha, and Forget Him. His "carmel-coated" voice is unmistakeable. Presently on hiatus from touring with Frankie Avalon and Fabian, Bobby will sing all his hits. Opening act, The Shangri-Las return to their home town of Queens, were they were discovered at Andrew Jackson H.S. and named after a local Queens restaurant! They charted numerous hits in the 1960's and remain known for their superhits Leader of the Pack, and Remember (Walkin' in the Sand).
