Ariadne Unhinged

Maverick choreographer Karole Armitage stages Gotham Chamber Opera’s new version of the Ariadne story in Ariadne Unhinged. Featuring members of Armitage Gone! Dance, this production intertwines three musical works from different centuries to reflect Ariadne’s emotional and psychological states: Monteverdi’s “Lamento d’Arianna,” Haydn’s “solo cantata Arianna a Naxos, ” and Schoenberg’s “Pierrot Lunaire.” In another first, internationally renowned artist Vera Lutter provides the stunning visual backdrop for this daring exploration.
