About This Show

A Tribute to Larry Kramer begins with introductory remarks by Calvin Trillin, followed by performances of excerpts of playwright and novelist’s work. The evening ends with a discussion with Tony Kushner and Larry Kramer about the interaction between art and activism, moderated by Adam Feldman, theatre critic of Time Out magazine. Larry Kramer’s play about the early years of AIDS, The Normal Heart, has been produced all over the world and has recently had an enormously successful revival at the Public Theater. His other works include the best-selling novel Faggots, the play The Destiny of Me, and the screenplay of Women in Love. He is a co-founder of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis and the founder of Act Up, the AIDS advocacy and protest organization.
