A Brooklyn Nutcracker

The family holiday tradition in Brooklyn reaches a major milestone with the tenth anniversary season of A Brooklyn Nutcracker at the Brooklyn Music School Playhouse. First presented in 1999, this production was conceived and directed by Dance Director Robin Osborne and features a talented cast, 90% of whom are children: the BMS Journey Dancer Ensembles, students, BMS faculty and guest artists. Osborne sets the cherished 19th century holiday classic in contemporary Brooklyn, where Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score is performed against the backdrop of familiar scenes such as Macy’s Department Store, Junior’s Restaurant, the NYC subway system, Coney Island, Brighton Beach, Atlantic Avenue, Sunset Park and, of course, the Brooklyn Bridge.
