About This Show

The Presidential primaries are coming, but first it’s the annual Basie appearance by the only group in America trying to be funnier than Congress: The Capitol Steps! The mob that puts the mock in democracy, Capitol Steps are a musical sketch comedy troupe of current and former Congressional staffers. Taking a humorous look at serious issues, they use personalities on Capitol Hill, in the Oval Office and worldwide to supply the fodder for a nationwide laugh at our own political system. Their bi-partisan shows are as up to date as the news cycle, a potent mix of musical theatre and dramatic satire that provides, “Laughs to the Left, Laughs to the Right,” according to The New York Times. CNN’s Larry King said, “They’re the best,” and former President Bush said, “The Capitol Steps make it easier to leave public life.”
