Ellen McLaughlin’s adaptation is comprised of three tales (Iphigenia at Aulis, Electra and Iphigenia at Tauris) – stories that focus on the roles of isolated women, stifled by circumstance, who desire to determine their own fate, and who, throughout the arc of the play, engage in a journey to action. Director Katerine Kovner believes that "the play is made especially relevant in this time period because it examines the way a cycle of violence can be created in the name of justice and how hard it is to stop that once it is going."
