Robert Harling’s 1987 play, based on his memories of his mother and sister, focuses on six warm, witty, and strong women, whose lives intersect in the beauty parlor of a small Louisiana town. Alternately hilarious and touching, the characters talk, gossip, and needle each other through the best of times… and cry, comfort, and repair each other through the worst.
