About the Show
Metropolitan Ballet presents La Bayadère (The Temple Dancer), one of the absolute pillars of classical ballet, first choreographed by Marius Petipa in 1877 to music by Ludwig Minkus. The ballet was famously re-staged by world renown ballet star RUDOLPH NUREYEV for the Paris Opera Ballet.
Set in mystical ancient India, La Bayadère tells the tragic love story of the temple dancer Nikiya and the warrior Solor. Famous for its dramatic love triangle, intense betrayals, The Golden Idol and the iconic "Kingdom of the Shades" sequence of dancers, this production will send you into a world unlike your own. Don't miss this special opportunity to see a rare classic! Delightful for all ages 10 and older.
Starring Bolshoi Alum Natalia Sheptalova as Nikiya & Amy Pennaz as Gamzatti
