Once in a Lifetime

Kaufman and Hart built their delightful Broadway comedy around a third-rate vaudeville trio and their “once in a lifetime” plan to become voice coaches to hapless silent screen stars scared silly of the Talkies. From the opening scene in New York to the climax in Hollywood (with a celebrity-crowded, cross-country train ride in between), the fun never stops as our two guys and a gal are caught in a series of misrepresentations, misunderstandings and downright dumb mistakes while making hilarious sport of the people who make the movies.
