Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning drama, Angels in America, Part One: Millennium Approaches, penetrates the lives of two couples at either ends of the social spectrum. Set in the Reagan years, the characters deal with blessings and sin, disease and death, and spiritual transformation. It’s moving, yet very funny; highly theatrical, yet steeped in traditional literary values, and deeply American in its attitudes and political concerns.
