2022 “The Fish”

Cheboygan Opera House, Michigan

Hiram Smith lived a…pleasant life. With his pleasant wife, Polly, and their pleasant daughter, Daisy, Hiram lived in the pleasant town of “Pleasantville”. He had a pleasant job as an ethics teacher and had just received the coveted Honesty Award, which was accompanied by a 43-pound trophy encrusted with genuine simulated Albanian rhinestones! What could possibly go wrong in such a pleasant setting?

Enter town gossip Greta Grimshaw with her Recognizance Guild! Hiram soon finds himself center stage in the midst of a serious case of slander involving a fish. Slander involving a fish! It was a big fish and so was Hiram’s problem.

The Cheboygan Summer Youth Theatre, comprised of local students in grades five through 12, will present this musical comedy at the Cheboygan Opera House. This original musical, written by Bruce Scigliano and George Krawczyk and under the direction of Jill Kwiatkowski, will premiere June 24th and 25th. Come to the Opera House and see how Hiram manages to dance himself out of his piscatorial problem.
