About This Show

The Coconut Grove Playhouse presents the pre-Broadway production of the new musical Passin’ It On, starring Tony Award winner Len Cariou. The book is by Larry Atlas, with music & lyrics by Terry Cashman. Jeffrey B. Moss directs.

Passin’ It On deals with Sig McCartney, played by Mr. Cariou, the owner of a baseball-themed sports bar in a small South Florida town, who earns a modest living that is rich in family, friendship, and love. He’s surrounded by “a world in which little businesses get eaten by big ones; house calls have turned into HMO’s and family picinics have been replaced by $3,000.00 theme park weekends…”

A hardworking man, Sig’s life is simple but happy. But when the local baseball spring training camp moves north and the tourists follow, Sig learns happiness can come at a steep price. With few patrons, bills mounting and a daughter who has sacrificed her goals for her father’s passion, Sig must choose between his childhood dream or his family’s survival.
