The Magic Tower – 2022

In Williams’ 1930’s one-act dream of a happy marriage, a vaudeville headliner nicknamed the Duchess, retires from the stage to take on a new role as muse (and wife) to a starving young artist. Her love and her husband’s imagination turns the dross of tenement life into fairy-tale gold. As long as they don’t look out the window, their five-story walk-up remains the magic tower of the title. One stormy night, though, the artist goes off in the pelting rain to charm a rich art dealer. That’s when the Duchess hears a knock at her door and opens it reluctantly on her old vaudeville pals, now bound for Hollywood, tempting her to join them.
