SpeakEasy mounts the first-since-B’way production of Michael John LaChiusa’s musical, The Wild Party. The show is based on the epic poem by Joseph Moncure March, a salacious work that was banned in Boston after its publication in 1928. The musical closely follows March’s poem, which is set in the jazz-mad Manhattan of the 1920s and chronicles an all-night gin-and-sin-soaked soiree hosted by Queenie and Burrs, volatile lovers who are performers in the fading world of Vaudeville.
