Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s 1777 social satire is presented by Trinity Repertory Company. This classic play about romance and inheritance traces the malicious (though delightful) antics of Lady Sneerwell and her scandal-mongering followers. Directed by Michael Baron, The School for Scandal focuses on ambivalence towards scandal. Is it an art form? Can it be socially redemptive? Or is it responsible for the downfall of civilization? Maybe it’s all three.
