About This Show

Peter Pan, the play, was written in 1898, by James Matthew Barrie. It tells the story of a mischievous boy who refuses to grow up by spending his childhood adventuring on the small island of Neverland as leader of his gang, the Lost Boys. The show’s adventures begin when Peter teaches Wendy and her brothers how to fly and invites them to come with him to Never-Never-Land. "I Won’t Grow Up", "I’m Flying", "I’ve Got to Crow", and "Tender Shepherd", are just a few of the notable musical numbers from this production, which opened as a musical in 1954, with Mary Martin as Peter Pan. The music was composed by Mark Charlap and Jule Styne with ly rics b y Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green. Jerome Robbins’ original choreography will be revived by Elaine Gatchell for Leddy Center’s production of "Peter Pan".
