Orson’s Shadow
New Repertory Theatre at Mosesian Center for the Arts, Boston
Movie stars, legendary talent, and explosive egos collide in this Off-Broadway hit, under the direction of Elliot Norton Award-winner Adam Zahler. In 1960, Orson Welles is persuaded by powerful theatre critic Kenneth Tynan to direct a London production of Ionesco’s Rhinoceros, starring the brilliant Laurence Olivier and his latest flame, Joan Plowright. But their romance is complicated by a visit from Olivier’s eccentric wife, Vivien Leigh. Filled with risqué, behind-the-scenes intrigue, Orson’s Shadow depicts the fragility and humanity of these titan personalities.
