New Course: Advanced Tasting

To complement our existing multi-level wine programs, we’re excited to introduce Advanced Tasting — a class designed to sharpen your tasting skills and advance the knowledge you’ve built in our survey, winemaking, and higher-level courses.

Throughout the course, you’ll focus on:

Identifying different regional expressions of the same grape variety

Evaluating wine quality at a professional level

– Separating the influences of winemaking, climate, and grape varietal character

– Writing accurate, professional-quality tasting notes

Tastings will focus on grape and region laterals that are commonly difficult to differentiate, and explore how production choices impact style, highlight subtle distinctions between similar wines, and challenge you to assess quality through blind tastings.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a deeper, more refined understanding of the key sensory skills required for advanced work in the wine trade, wine journalism, and other professional roles.

This class is ideal for students who have completed Levels 3 and 4, or our two-semester Survey of Wine classes.

Dates: Wednesday evenings, 6:00 – 8:45 PM, Sep 03 – Dec 10, 2025

Prerequisite: Level 3: Grapevine Varieties, or both Comprehensive Survey of Wine courses, or a demonstrated equivalent foundation in wine studies. Tuition: $1,640
