About the Show

A 15th-century medieval morality play with a 21st century interpretation, hand-sewn tunics in a stunning array of vibrant colors, and artistically sculpted masks in the genre of Lion King, combine to present audiences with a captivating and timeless production of Everyman. What has kept this 500 year old play relevant? Everyman has opened the Salzburg Festival every year since 1911, and is one of the most frequently performed morality plays from the middle ages. It explores the journey of a soul preparing to leave this world and depart to the next. The human traits of this soul become the characters in the play, represented by the masks which illustrate the truths about their relationship to Everyman. The journey of Everyman is the journey of us all.

Stages Theatre Company are performing Everyman in the stunning Church of the Transfiguration, a basilica-style church with marble and glass mosaics, frescoes, marble and pillars with carved stone.
