Anne of Green Gables

In Anne of Green Gables, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert live and work on their smallholding in a pretty country village but are beginning to feel their age. They decide to employ a boy to help them with the duties on their farm and approach the orphan asylum for suggestions. Due to a misunderstanding, a girl — Anne Shirley — arrives instead. To leave the orphanage and stay at Green Gables would be a dream come true for the red-haired and fanciful Anne.
