The Trinity Repertory presents Ain’t Misbehavin’ the Fats Waller Musical Show directed by Kent Gash. Conceived and originally directed by Richard Maltby, Jr., Ain’t Misbehavin’ is based on an idea by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby, Jr. This foot-stompin’ musical ran for four years on Broadway, earning three Tony Awards, an Obie and a Drama Desk Award, even the Grammy for best musical album. Ain’t Misbehavin’ celebrates the centennial of Fats Waller’s birth with such musical gems as “The Joint is Jumpin’,” “T’Ain’t Nobody’s Biz-ness If I Do,” “Honeysuckle Rose,” “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” and more. This high spirited and emotionally buoyant music hails from an equally lively period in American History – the Harlem Renaissance – when ragtime met swing and jazz was born.
