A Man of No Importance, by Terrence McNally (book), Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Aherns (lyrics) is a recent off-Broadway musical, from the creators of Ragtime. Set in Ireland in 1964, it tells the story of a bus conductor and his community theater troupe. It received the 2003 Outer Critics’ Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical and was nominated for six Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, Best Music, Best Lyrics and Best Book.
