About the Show
A Gay Masseur’s Guide to Happy Endings, a daringly funny solo show written and performed by award-winning actor and writer Austin Jennings Boykin, will play Provincetown’s Red Room on July 13 at 7 PM and July 14 at 9 PM, ahead of its world premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August.
The piece follows AJ, a young actor who turns to gay massage work in search of money and purpose. A decade later, he finds himself in a high-stakes encounter that forces him to confront the cost of a life built on performance. Darkly funny and provocative, the show explores shame, desire, loneliness, and the blurred line between intimacy and transaction.
Developed over a series of sold-out workshops in Provincetown and NYC, the work has been praised for its sharp humor and unflinching honesty.
Boykin's credits include HBO, FX, Amazon, CBS, along with regional and NY theatre. His most recent film, Wooly Bully, is currently thriving on the festival circuit.
