About This Show

It is London, 1873. A brash young Dutchman, working for the London branch of an international firm of art dealers, rents a room in the house of an English widow. Based on the true facts of painter Vincent van Gogh’s early life in Britain, Vincent in Brixton depicts the transforming effect of love on the life of a young artist. Vincent in Brixton premiered at the Royal National Theatre in the spring of 2002 and was awarded the 2003 Olivier Award in London for “Best New Play.” It was subsequently produced on Broadway under the auspices of Lincoln Center Theater.
